grant funds for 85 projects in 51 rural communities. The CDBG
funds leveraged more than $35.7 million of other public and
private funds. There was a marked increase in program activities
and accomplishments during the 1999-2000 biennium as compared
to the 1997-1998 biennium. $1.6 million more grant funds were
awarded to 18 more projects, and 29 more communities were served.
The CDBG funds leveraged $3 million more in additional funds
from other sources.
The Community Business
Resource Center (CBRC), which was created during the last
biennium, continues to provide non-traditional financing assistance
to rural Nevada businesses. Twenty-seven loans totaling $2.1
million were funded during the biennium creating 130 total jobs
in Battle Mountain, Carson City, Ely, Elko, Fallon, Fernley,
McGill, Orovada, Virginia City, West Wendover, Winnemucca and
Yerington. In 1999, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development
