Global Trade and Investment

Purpose:

The Global Trade and Investment program plays an active role in business expansion for Nevada companies with a strong emphasis on export trade. The program provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information on global trade issues by conducting export seminars and roundtables and providing export counseling; scheduling appointments for foreign trade delegations as well as for business representatives, buyers and potential joint-venture partners; conducting foreign trade shows and trade missions; and providing assistance and research on business, political and social issues in other countries.

Key Long-Term Objectives:

Assist Nevada business to begin or expand activities in international markets.

Advise Nevada firms engaged in developing overseas markets of available export missions, promotions and resources.

Attract foreign investment in the state through cooperative efforts with regional development authorities.

Grow the Honorary Consular Corps of Nevada to represent 15–20 countries in the next biennium.

Created the Honorary Consular Corps of Nevada that now has nine countries represented.

Introduced delegations from 25 foreign countries to Nevada businesses, universities, government and economic development authorities.
