Nevada’s Businesses Hook Up
with Government Clients

Many of Nevada’s businesses jump started their bottom line in the first quarter of 2009 through government contracting. According to the Defense Logistics Agency, Nevada businesses landed 2,822 government contracts with a total value in excess of $48 million. And, those contracts added 1,039 jobs to Nevada’s economy.

Why Should You Consider Contracting with the Government?

It opens your business to a new marketplace
The government has to buy just about everything—from cars to computers, as well as services such as janitorial, engineering and construction. Every year the federal government spends more than $500 billion on goods and services.

It provides you with a new client that could become your best client
According to federal acquisition regulations, small businesses must be paid within 30 days. If you accept VISA or MasterCard, you could be paid within just days.

It stimulates Nevada’s economy and creates jobs
Government contracting helps diversify Nevada’s economy—bringing new money into the state and creating new jobs. Reports show that contract-related jobs pay more in wages, especially with the DOL wage rate compliance.

Nevada’s Procurement Outreach Program

Our goal is to give you the competitive edge
The Nevada Procurement Outreach Program (POP) provides Nevada’s businesses with the necessary training and technical assistance to identify, submit bids and be awarded federal, state, and local contracts. In a cooperative agreement between the State of Nevada and the federal government, the POP acts as an important intermediary—providing access for government agencies to the best value goods and services, while helping small businesses succeed and grow.

Nevada’s national award-winning Procurement Outreach Program has served businesses for more than 20 years. Since October 1, 2003, POP clients reported 3074 prime contract awards valued at $1,125,976,773; 462 subcontract awards valued at $64,331,667. These contract awards have resulted in the creation or retention of approximately 23,723 jobs in Nevada.
